Nick Martin, AIA (LEED Candidate), Principal Architect, has dedicated himself to all attributes of design, planning and the craft of Architecture and construction. With hands in the arts and the soil Nick has formed a unique office that understands the engineering, construction, art and grace of both large and small projects alike: modern to historic, residential, commercial, and public works projects.
He was introduced to the discipline of architecture upon entering Harvard’s undergraduate Architecture Discovery program, where he was honored with first design excellence. Following, Nick entered Pratt Institute's undergraduate Architecture School. Pratt awarded Nick a traveling fellowship to Greece studying in Cyprus and Athens. In 1993 Nick won a prestigious internship with Gwathmey Siegal and Associates in NY to work on high-end residences and commercial spaces. He continued with Gwathmey Siegal as an associate after graduating Magna Cum Laude.
While in New York, Nick worked with such notable firms as Gabellini Shepard and Associates, Brennan Beer and Gorman, Zapata and Wood, the NY branch of Ellerbe Becket and the NY firm of Architecture + Furniture. His projects have included private residences, MTV Corporate Headquarters, the Naomi Berrie Diabetes Center at Columbia University Medical Center, a prototype for Shisedo Cosmetics, and the AIA awarded New York flagship store for Nicole Farhiat.
Upon leaving New York City, Nick moved to Long Islands East End where he worked with James Merrell Architects. There, he developed AIA award winning private residences and a gallery for Urban Archeology in Bridgehampton, N.Y. After receiving his New York State Architectural license, Nick became an A.I.A member and incorporated MARTIN Architects PC, AIA, focusing on high-end residential projects, retail, and commercial spaces.
Nick maintains an Architectural and Real Estate license. As a member of the East Hampton Historical Society, he is involved in several environmental and cultural committees. He grew up in Buenos Aries, Argentina; Greenwich, CT; London, England; and New York City; maintains an oil painting and watercolor studio in East Hampton and often lectures at several NY State schools.
Most recently, Nick formed MARTIN INTERIORS, bringing experienced high quality interior design to the portfolio of services. In collaboration with Edward Armus PE, Nick has added MARTIN-ARMUS ENGINEERING and 4MA BUILDERS LLC to his list of partner companies.
